Interested in getting more involved with Knox? The Missions committee will be having our first meeting of 2011 on Thursday, January 20 at 7:00 at the church. We’re looking for a few more mission-minded members to help further develop the Missions efforts at Knox.
Have any questions or want further information, contact RE Jim Rudkin.
Yes, Christmas is just past, but we’re already gearing up for the 2011 Operation Christmas Child effort here at Knox.
What will you be doing with all those beautiful Christmas cards you received this year? Bring them to Knox, and put them in the wrapped box on the Missions table. We’re going to use them to help decorate the OCC boxes in 2011.
I know that everyone REALLY loves wrapping all those box lids on boxing day – but we’re going to try some new things out this year. Stay tuned, as you’ll see more new ideas in action for OCC.
A group from Knox will be volunteering down in Charlotte, NC, at the Operation Christmas Child Processing Center. Please join us as we support a great cause, and enjoy a weekend of fellowship. Our volunteer time is late Saturday afternoon, so the group could leave early Saturday morning for Charlotte. We’d spend the night in Charlotte, and then attend a local PCA church Sunday morning, before returning to Richmond.
Please let Sally Rudkin know before Thanksgiving if you’re interested in attending, so that we can make hotel reservations.
It truly is a special time together, and we hope you can join us!
As we prepare to come together on Saturday, November 13 for Knox’s OCC Boxing Day, and also as you consider joining us at the Charlotte Processing Center in December, I thought you’d like to know more about what the power of these simple shoe boxes can be. Take a few minutes and watch this video from Operation Christmas Child about just what these boxes bring to children all over the world.
Then, also consider joining others around the world in prayer during the OCC Box Collection week, November 15 – 22.
It’s that time again – Christmas is coming! And what does that mean for Knox? It means that our annual Operation Christmas Child Boxing Day is coming up.
Join us on Saturday from 3:00 until 7:00 at the church to pack our boxes, and get them ready for travelling to the children around the world who will be receiving them. All you need to bring is yourself, and friends.
Many hands make light work. After the boxes are packed and ready, we’ll enjoy a pizza dinner.
What a great way to kick off an early Christmas season!
Interested in joining a group from Knox as we travel to Charlotte to volunteer at the Operation Christmas Child processing center? Join us the weekend of December 10 in Charlotte. We need to get an idea of how many people are intersted, as well as get hotel rooms reserved. Our scheduled volunteer time is on Saturday, from 6pm – 10pm, so we can travel up either on Friday, or even Saturday morning. Please let either Jim or Sally Rudkin know if you’re interested in taking part in this, and how many nights you’ll need. Closer to time we’ll coordinate travel plans. What a great way to kick off the Christmas season for a really great cause!
On the weekend of December 11, 2009, 10 brave souls from Knox headed to Charlotte, NC. There, they headed over to the Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child Processing Center, to help process boxes from all over the East Coast. A great time was had by all.
It was amzing to see the thousands and thousands of boxes which have been donated by people from all walks of life, and which will slowly make their way into a needy child’s hands. Through these boxes, children will learn that God loves them, and that through His love, they can have an everlasting life.
Afterwards, we continued to get into the Christmas spirit, by attending the special Christmas festivities, carolling, and a live nativity at the Billy Graham Library.
Please plan on joining us in 2010, as we definitely are already making plans to do it again.
The Knox family got together on Saturday, November 14, in order to pack 75 boxes for Samaritan Purse’s Operation Christmas Child.
Here are just a few photos to show you what a wonderful day it was, for a great cause.
